MNU Events

District Audition Virtual Masterclass

Student Performances - Bell Center
When:

Our event this year will be virtual, but will still feature opportunities to interact directly with our applied faculty.

When:

Sunday, October 25 - a 45 minute block between 2 pm and 5 pm

What will the event look like?

Students will be assigned a 45 minute time block with no more than 4 other students, for an interactive small group lesson with MNU’s applied instrumental faculty. The event will focus on the Kansas District and State audition materials and tips on how to prepare your an audition in general.

Who can attend?

Kansas District Band Auditions are for students from grades 6-9 and our event is geared towards helping those students.

We will provide instruction for: Flute, Oboe, Bassoon, Clarinet, Bass Clarinet, All Saxophones, Trumpet, Horn, Trombone, Baritone/Euphonium, Tuba, and Percussion.

There will be a cap of 15 students per instrument. Priority will be given on a first-come, first-serve basis.

What is needed for the event?

  • State Music (found here: https://ksmea.org/hsband/excerpts/)
  • Working instrument
  • Pencil
  • Reliable internet connection and Zoom software (We recommend using Zoom on a computer and turning on “original sound” in the audio settings. Using a phone or tablet will likely inhibit the effectiveness of the clinic.)

Cost?

Only $5 per student. A few days prior to the event, you will be sent a zoom link and the exact time for your session.
