When MidAmerica Nazarene University welcomed internationally-acclaimed conductor Eugene Migliaro Corporon as guest conductor of the MNU Band recently, students learned of his MNU connection. Assistant Professor of music Maria Harman, DMA, had the good fortune to have Corporon as an ensemble instructor during her graduate work at the University of North Texas. Harman says Corporon’s visit to MNU gave students a unique opportunity....

MNU has been selected a Champions of Character Five-Star Institution for 2011-2012. According to Chad Jenkins, MNU sports information director, MNU has achieved this distinction or its predecessor (the Champions of Character Institution award) for the last 10 years in a row. The NAIA Champions of Character program is designed to create an environment in which every NAIA student-athlete, coach, official and spectator is committed to the true spirit of competition through the five tenets: integrity, respect, responsibility, sportsmanship and servant leadership. ...

MNU President David J. Spittal announced the unexpected passing of Dr. D. Ray Cook, trustee, colleague, and friend of MidAmerica Nazarene University. Dr. Cook served on the MNU board of trustees for 33 years, and was the chair of the board from 1999-2009. Dr. Cook passed away Nov. 8, 2012, in Greece. Spittal said Cook loved MNU – especially its students. ...
