MNU’s second annual Scholarship Challenge is set for Jan. 27-28, 2017. The best and brightest high school seniors can compete at this year’s challenge for the ultimate prize of full tuition at MNU. Students who meet the requirements and attend Scholarship Challenge Weekend will qualify for a $1,000 MNU scholarship just for attending. The top 10 competitors receive a $2,000 MNU scholarship and the top three receive full tuition—worth $26,150. The competition requires:...

Giving Tuesday, the global day of giving fueled by social media and the collective support of millions, is Nov. 29. This year MNU will participate in the philanthropic movement now in its fifth year. The goal is to reach 500 donations that day. Celebrated on the first Tuesday after Thanksgiving, Giving Tuesday kicks off the charitable giving season when many people start planning their holiday and year-end giving. Last year, more than 115,000 colleges, universities and nonprofits participated raising a total of $116 million for their causes....

When student Emily Phillips went to Greece to intern with Nazarene Compassionate Ministries in the Syrian refugee camps, she wasn’t expecting her biggest lesson to be about receiving compassion. “As long as I’m the one giving, I’m still in power. I don’t have to be vulnerable. But if I’m going to do compassionate ministry, I have to put myself on a level with the people I’m ministering to,” says Emily. Emily got the opportunity to climb Mount Olympus during her time in Greece....

AJ (’11) and Chelsea (Coffey ’13) Fry are headed for an adventure with a purpose bigger than they ever imagined. The young couple met at MNU and never dreamed they would become volunteer missionaries, but the call is clear and they couldn’t be more excited. They leave the U.S. this month, bound for Costa Rica, to attend three months of language school. Then it’s off to the Dominican Republic for their assignment in cross-cultural ministry as Work & Witness coordinators in Santo Domingo, where they will help build a Missionary Formation Center....
