Associate Professor of Physics Drew Overholt and his colleagues are continuing to research the effects of supernova on Earth’s biology. Soon the group will publish new findings in Astrophysical Journal. The findings will change the previously estimated distance from which a supernova could spark a mass extinction....

A big addition to the wildlife that biology students will study, arrived on campus last week. Thanks to the generous donation of Brent (FS ’85) and Lynette (Hight, FS ’84) Barkman of Barkman Honey, two colonies of bees (120,000) now make MNU their home. Delivered in the twilight hours last Friday night, the bees were calmed by smoke pots handled by Brent....

MidAmerica Nazarene University and Nazarene Bible College (NBC) announced today that they are partnering to offer MNU’s library services to NBC students. Beginning June 1, NBC students will be able to access online databases and support for other services. NBC is in the process of phasing out its on-site education and will offer its programs exclusively online. The administration of the college is relocating from Colorado Springs, Colorado, to the Church of the Nazarene Global Ministry Center in Lenexa, Kansas....

Student teaching first grade at Sunflower Elementary School in Gardner, Kansas has been a dream come true for senior elementary education major Alayna Elstrom. Having completed a practicum at the school earlier in her education, Alayna says she hoped that she would be placed there. Tuesday, May 2, 2017, was proclaimed MNU Appreciation Day by Olathe Mayor Mike Copeland (’84) at a city council meeting. MNU President David Spittal was in attendance and received the commemorative proclamation on behalf of the university. Mayor Copeland's proclamation declared the university is one of Olathe’s most beloved and respected institutions and a “cherished cornerstone of our city.” Read the full proclamation here....
