MNU announced a unique new course schedule for traditional undergraduate majors that will start in August 2020. Every class session will be 75 minutes in length. Classes formerly held on Monday/Wednesday/Friday will now be held Monday and Thursday. Classes previously held Tuesday and Thursday will now be held Tuesday and Friday. The new schedule leaves Wednesdays free of traditional class sessions....

MidAmerica Nazarene University will host “May Our Voices Ring True,” an event with Huascar Medina, Poet Laureate of Kansas, March 12, from 7 to 9 p.m., at Bell Cultural Events Center on the university’s campus in Olathe. Members of the community are invited to attend the free program. The program is made possible by Humanities Kansas in partnership with Mabee Learning Commons at MNU....

MNU welcomed Alumnus Capt. Tammie Jo Shults for several events Feb. 3 and 4, 2020. Capt. Shults, who was thrust into the public spotlight in April 2018 when she safely landed Southwest Airlines flight 1380 after the catastrophic loss of an engine, has authored Nerves of Steel. The book recounts her humble beginnings, perseverance to become one of the early female Navy pilots and the training and opportunities that culminated in her God-given strength that day. ...

MNU's Community Chapel service was a tribute to Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Jan. 21, 2020. This was the 14th annual community celebration which included community members, civic and business leaders who joined students in the event.  Heritage Choir, led by Dr. Christopher Smith, associate professor of music, sang two selections to the delight of the audience. Dr. Victoria Haynes, professor of nursing and coordinator of diversity & cultural competency, introduced six new MLK Leader Scholars. The students were each awarded a scholarship of the same name. ...

MidAmerica Nazarene University recently announced its President's, Dean's List and Honor Roll for the fall 2019 semester.  All students in traditional programs carrying 12 semester hours or more with a term GPA from 3.2 to 4.0 may qualify for one of these academic honors. Neutral credit hours are excluded from the calculation and reduce the course load used to figure the honor. The President’s List is a 4.0 grade point average for the semester; Dean’s List ranges from 3.5 to 3.99; and the Honor Roll is 3.2 to 3.49....

MidAmerica Nazarene University announced that supporters of the Cunningham Student Center have met the $1 million challenge from the J.E. and L.E. Mabee Foundation toward the construction of the new $20 million facility. One year ago, the Mabee Foundation challenged MNU to raise the remaining $11 million needed for the building by January 8, 2020. Meeting the challenge would result in a $1 million award from Mabee. Including that award, MNU has now raised over $20 million for the new student center. ...

When Ramon Fulson (’08) first attended MNU on a football scholarship, he never imagined the impact it would have on his life. Now a lead consultant at Cerner, the health information innovation giant in Kansas City, Ramon reflects on his time at MNU. During his time at MNU, Ramon thrived as a sports management major and running back/defensive back for the Pioneers. He looks back on his time spent at the university with pride.  “MNU gave me the ability to grow,” Ramon says. “I learned countless life lessons there.”...
