More than 100 people shared in the festivities at the 2012 MNU Foundation Golf Tournament Sept. 17, 2012 at Prairie Highlands Golf Course. Corporates Event Sponsor DEW Ad Specialties helped make the event possible with help from other sponsors such as:
- Olathe Chamber of Commerce
- Pioneer College Caterers
- College Church of the Nazarene
- Harlan Parker State Farm Insurance
- Strickland Construction
- Simmons First National Bank
The weather was perfect as MNU Professor Emeritus Dr. Barth Smith, son of the late R. Curtis Smith, MNU’s first president, gave the opening prayer. Approximately $15,000 was raised for student scholarships. Several scholarship recipients worked at the tournament greeting players and assisting with the event.
Golfer Roger Revelle says he enjoys the event because it is more than just a golf tournament.
“If someone is considering participation next year I would say; come experience a greater purpose for golf,” Revelle said.
Event organizer Todd Garrett, director of development, says the golf classic continues to be an important fundraising opportunity for friends of MNU.
“The opportunity to engage our past, present, and future with our current students, alumni, and community constituency is truly and honor,” Garrett says. “This single day event is a great way to celebrate the hard work and energy of those who have come before us, and to pay it forward for those students who will follow.”
