Campus Mourns Passing of Beloved Professor Neil Friesland
Neil Friesland, EdD, Class of 1992, professor of education, passed away yesterday evening, February 29, 2024, after a brief illness. Neil was so much a part of the MNU family that his legacy is woven into the fabric of the campus.

MNU is part of a burgeoning national effort to interest, educate, and retain schoolteachers through an apprenticeship program for aspiring teachers. Now, para educators in participating districts can stay in their jobs while earning a bachelor's degree and teaching license online.

Faithful Supporters to be Honored at Gala
When Saralyn Schmidt and Allen Brown first stepped on the new Mid-America Nazarene College campus in 1968, neither dreamed they would meet, marry, enjoy successful careers, and become some of the university’s strongest supporters. It wasn’t their plan, but as it turns out, it was all in God’s plan. Allen and Saralyn Brown, class of 1972, are this year’s Lifetime Achievement honorees. The award will be presented at President’s Honors, the university’s premiere scholarship fundraising event, April 12.

“Everyone’s journey is different,” says Danielle Hertzler who just graduated from MNU’s Accelerated Bachelor of Science in Nursing program. She didn’t always know she wanted to be a nurse. In fact, Danielle’s first career was as a photographer.

Theatre students and professor Heather Tinker came away from the Kennedy Center American College Theater Region 5 Festival with numerous accolades. The event was held in Des Moines, Iowa in January. The national theater program involves 18,000 students annually from colleges and universities nationwide
