Greg Sheffer, a 1993 alumnus of MNU and owner of Inversion, an Olathe, Kan., video and film production company, can add several more awards to his mantle. On October 22, 2011, Sheffer was awarded three Mid-America Emmy® Awards from The Mid-America Chapter of the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences (NATAS) for Olathe – The City Beautiful - a series of films on the history of Olathe.
The first film of the series – The Bricklayer – also won best heartland documentary at the 2011 AMC Theaters Kansas City Film Fest.
Sheffer also won a 2011 Telly Award for one of five films he produced for Grace and Peace magazine. The award-winning Resurrection Story presented the testimony of Larry, a former general of a white supremacist group who had spent time in prison. As a result of his contact with Adsideo Church of the Nazarene in Portland, Ore., Larry became a Christian. The Telly Awards honor the best local, regional, and cable television commercials and programs, as well as non-broadcast video and film productions.
