MNU Invites Public to Hear Christian Author
The public is invited to an Evening with Dr. Michael Lodahl, professor and author Tuesday, April 2, at Mabee Library on the campus of MNU at 7 p.m. Lodahl will discuss one of his many books When Love Bends Down and conduct a book signing after the event. Light refreshments will be served. While books will be for sale, the event is free.
Lodahl is professor of theology and world religions at Point Loma Nazarene University in San Diego, Calif. Before that he taught theology at his alma mater, Northwest Nazarene University, for 11 years. An ordained elder in the Church of the Nazarene, Lodahl has served as a pastor in California, Georgia and Idaho. He has also taught or lectured across the globe in Israel, Kenya, Russia, Kazakhstan, Germany, the Netherlands, Cyprus, Mexico, Japan, South Korea and The Philippines.
When Love Bends Down examines four specific passages in the Gospel of John and shows how these help illustrate the fundamental truth that God was willing to bend down and dwell among us in order to reach us where we are. Lodahl emphasizes that by understanding the bent-down theology of Jesus we can better understand how the Church is called to a “bent-down” life together as Christ’s body in the world today. In this book the reader gains a new vision of Christ and the kind of people He calls us to be.
Lodahl’s many other works, such as Claiming Abraham: Reading the Bible and the Qur’an Side by Side (2010), will also be on sale at the event.
