Guatemalan Health Clinic Grand Opening

Last year MNU students raised more than $50,600 for materials for a new health clinic to be built in Patanatic, Guatemala by Heart to Heart International and the community of Patanatic. Next Thursday, March 17, the clinic’s grand opening ceremonies will be broadcast live at MNU’s Cook Center at 5 p.m. in Hager Lecture Hall.

Partnering with Rotary International and Heart to Heart, the people of Patanatic volunteered the labor necessary to build the clinic which will bring health care and health education to a village that lacked clean water and first aid until 2010.

"We are thrilled to see our 2010 Passion to Serve project completed,” says Alison Weinstock, MNU ServiceCorps coordinator who assisted with the fundraising.  “The partnership among the people of Patanatic, Heart to Heart International, MNU and other organizations has been heartwarming to see."

MNU mission teams of students have traveled to Patanatic numerous times before and after the building of the clinic. Eleven students will be there for the opening with another team going in June.

The public is invited to attend the clinic grand opening broadcast. For directions to Cook Center visit
