Student's Work Inspirational
Junior graphic design major Ashley Rogers is a "near-professional" artist says professor Brian Merriman. Rogers finds inspiration in all sorts of objects but recently created a drawing from a photo she found. Though she doesn't know whose hands she drew, she finds inspiration in looking at them--imagining the contemplation and prayer that must have happened. This person has seen a lot of life and Ashley loves capturing that in each line of her drawing.
Rogers says she's been drawing since she was five years old. Merriman thinks its rare to find a student like Ashley. He predicts having the combination of hand-drawn illustration and computer graphic design will make Rogers very marketable in the job search.
Rogers' praying hands piece is one of several chosen to be displayed in Dobson Hall, MNU's visual communications building.
