MNU Launches New Northland Counseling Center

Kansas City Northland residents looking for counseling services now have a new, affordable option for care in their area. MidAmerica Nazarene University’s Master of Arts in Counseling program recently opened the Northland Community Counseling Center (NCCC). NCCC, like its counterpart counseling and play therapy center at MNU’s Olathe campus, serves local residents as well as university students, and uses a sliding scale fee system to make services affordable.

NCCC is located at MNU’s Liberty location at 105 N Stewart Ct, Suite 210, Liberty, Mo., and currently serves adolescents and adults. The center is staffed by graduate intern counselors in their second year of training in the Master of Arts in Counseling program, and provides services for individuals, couples, and families. Faculty members supervise the graduate intern counselors to ensure quality care for clients.

Danna Dahl, M.A., LPC, LCMFT, associate professor of counseling and clinical coordinator of the community counseling and play therapy center, said the opening of the new center enables MNU to better serve clients throughout the Kansas City metro.

“Our sliding scale fee allows us to provide services to clients who might not be able to afford counseling elsewhere,” said Dahl. “We are very excited about the services we can provide to individuals, couples, and families in Northland.”
