MidAmerica Nazarene University has been selected for Money magazine’s 2019 Best Colleges list. Money magazine evaluated 3,000 of the nation’s colleges, narrowing their list to 744 with the best value for the money. MNU is one of only five Kansas universities to make the list.

To determine the rankings, Money analyzed 26 factors in three categories to find the top college values, including:

1.    Quality of education
2.    Affordability
3.    Outcomes

Dr. David J. Spittal, president, noted that MNU was selected among other quality area institutions. In Kansas, MNU joins Kansas State University, Baker University, the University of Kansas and Benedictine College.

“This is our second year in a row to be named to the list as a great value for the student’s investment,” he said. “We are honored with this recognition by Money magazine.”

Spittal went on to explain that the university is offering a student loan repayment assistance program for new students this fall. Pioneer Pledge helps MidAmerica Nazarene University graduates in all fields, should their income be less than $43,000, affecting their ability to repay student loans.

“We are confident that our graduates will be successful after graduation,” Spittal said. “But we also know that they have concerns about student loan debt. Pioneer Pledge is our way of providing a safety net to ease those concerns.”

Students must be new as of fall 2019 and must graduate from MNU to qualify for the benefits of Pioneer Pledge. Readers can learn more at

In addition to being ranked by Money magazine for the last two years, MNU has enjoyed ranking by U.S. News & World Report in the 2018 and 2019 Best Colleges Regional Midwest list (traditional undergrad).
