MNU Participates in Second Giving Tuesday

Giving Tuesday
University News

Today is Giving Tuesday, the global day of giving fueled by social media and many donors working together to make a collective impact. MNU’s goal is for 250 donors (or more) to support at least one of seven worthy projects.

Association for Student Athletes – Student-athletes at MNU often form strong bonds on their respective teams, but few realize the common-ground struggles of athletes in other sports. The Association for Student Athletes hopes to create a broader community within athletics while serving as an advocate and voice for athletes across campus.

Compassion Fund for Students – Students with significant financial needs often struggle to succeed academically, because they cannot afford textbooks, lab fees, or technology. The Compassion Fund for Students aims to alleviate the struggle by providing resources for books, travel home for family funerals, visits to a physician, or critical medications.

Fine Arts Instruments & Equipment – MNU is blessed with talented concert bands whose performances are the highlight of the academic year. Some of our Fine Arts instruments and equipment need to rise to a new standard for our band students. Funds will help purchase several instruments, which MNU either owns or must borrow for concerts.

FORCE Mentoring Program – A pilot program in the Teacher Education department, FORCE (Forging Opportunities for Recruiting and Careers in Education) is designed to address a critical shortage in the teaching profession (men of color) by recruiting students, pairing them with a mentor from metro school districts, and preparing them for careers in teaching.

Genesis One Initiative – The project aims to expand MNU’s recycling program campus-wise as part of a broader program to help students embrace the biblical stewardship of God’s creation found in the first chapter of Genesis.

LQVE: Passion to Serve Project – Donations will provide support for the construction of a clinic in Belle Anse in southeast Haiti, as well as a nurse to staff the clinic.

University Fund Scholarships – University Fund gifts designated for scholarships help bridge the gap between the cost of a college education and what our students can afford. More than 95 percent of our traditional undergraduate students rely on scholarships to attend MNU.
