Here’s a chance to get some exercise, compete with other runners and enjoy everyone’s favorite treat, chocolate. The Chocolate Rush 5K and Half Marathon is coming to MNU Feb. 7 and starts at 8 a.m. This year the event will start and end on the MNU campus culminating in what organizers are calling a chocolate feast inside the university’s Cook Center.
The cost is $30 for the 5K and $45 for the half marathon. Registrants for the 5k will receive a long-sleeve t-shirt and half marathon registrants will receive a tech shirt. Both will qualify for entrance to the chocolate feast which includes a chocolate fountain.
Dr. Brice Wiltgen, an Olathe chiropractor, says this is the third year for the Chocolate Rush and that last year’s event attracted 500 runners.
“We’re hoping for 600 runners this year,” Wiltgen said. “We want to keep people active in the winter and at the same time have a lot of fun.”
Wiltgen also said the event is a fundraiser for Olathe’s Salvation Army and will also fund a scholarship at MNU for students in the sports management program.
