New Findings in Professors’ Supernova Research
| by Carol Best firstname.lastname@example.org
Associate Professor of Physics Drew Overholt and his colleagues are continuing to research the effects of supernova on Earth’s biology. Soon the group will publish new findings in Astrophysical Journal. The findings will change the previously estimated distance from which a supernova could spark a mass extinction.
Overholt’s research with Adrian Melott, KU professor of physics and astronomy, B.C. Thomas of Washburn University, M. Kachelrieß of Institutt for fysikk in Norway, D.V. Semikoz of the Observatoire de Paris, Sorbonne Paris Cite in France and the National Research Nuclear University in Moscow, is part of a three-year grant from NASA to study the “Terrestrial Impact of Nearby Supernovae.” The research has sparked several findings of note throughout the project.
