Pioneer Football Announces 2012 Venue

MNU’s four home football games will be played at Olathe District Activity Center (ODAC), 20925 W. 159th St., Olathe, Kan., this year. Earlier this summer the university closed Pioneer Stadium due to safety concerns after consultation with a structural engineer. Plans are underway for the removal of the current stadium complex, as well as the construction of the new facilities and related costs.

MNU President Dr. David Spittal says the change of plans is an opportunity.

“These are outstanding sports facilities and will provide excellent facilities for the team and spectators for the MNU 2012 season,” Spittal said.  “We are grateful to the board and administration of the Olathe School District for their strong support of these arrangements. Let’s use this opportunity to show our support for MNU football and demonstrate our Pioneer Spirit.”

MNU Athletic Director Kevin Steele added his appreciation for the partnership forged with the Olathe School District.

"We sincerely appreciate the efforts of Lane Green, athletic director and Dr. Marlin Berry, superintendent of Olathe public schools, for working with us to make the use of ODAC possible for MNU football this year," said Steele. "The sharing of facilities is never an easy issue and they have worked as true community partners to help make it possible. We are looking forward to another fantastic Pioneer football season and cannot wait to welcome our fans to the ODAC facility on Sept. 8 for our home opener versus #9 ranked Missouri Valley College.

Arrangements for the demolition and removal of the current structures at Pioneer Stadium are being made along with plans for the construction of replacement facilities. The new facilities will be planned contingent upon availability of funding and the potential of donor support.
