Pioneers End Another Winning Season

Congratulations to the Pioneers men’s and women’s basketball teams who both ended NAIA Div. I National Tournament play, and their seasons, with records of 25-9. Both teams won the HAAC giving MNU five championship teams (football, volleyball, men’s soccer, men’s and women’s basketball) this academic year.

From NAIA: MidAmerica Nazarene [men], in its first tournament since 2009, ends the year with a 25-9 record.

MidAmerica Nazarene: MidAmerica Nazarene made its second appearance in the Division I national tournament and first since advancing to the Fab Four in 2009 ... The Pioneers have an overall record of 3-2 at the national tournament including a 1-1 mark in opening round games ... MNU came into the tournament ranked first in the NAIA in field goal percentage (.511), second in 3-point field goal percentage (.388), fifth in assists per game (17.5) and 3-point field goal defense (.285), and eighth in blocks per game (4.6) ... Junior guard Rustin Dowd, the Heart of America Athletic Conference Player of the Year, ranked fourth in 3-point field goal percentage (.454)... Fans had to travel only about 20 miles to Municipal Auditorium.
