Why I teach:

I teach because I love to share my own nursing experiences with my students. I love to watch them grow as individuals who move from knowing relatively little about nursing, to passing the NCLEX exam, and finally beginning their first jobs as RN’s! One thing a lot of people don’t know about nurses is that one of our primary roles is to teach! We do a lot of teaching for patients, families and our communities.

Recent Work:

I’m preparing to take our senior nursing students to Haiti on a mission trip next spring. I’ve always had a heart for community health and for taking care of the underserved populations, but I have never traveled outside of the US to do this. I am super excited to share this experience with our senior students as we travel to provide much needed health care to the Haitian people while growing together in our faith in service to others.

Personal:

During her childhood, Hart and her family moved frequently, living in nine different cities in six different states, and attending eight different schools. Eventually enrolling at Kansas State University she earned a degree in nursing in 1989. Prior to teaching her nursing practice included kidney dialysis, caring for transplant patients, and school nursing. She completed her master’s in nursing at MNU in 2012 and began a teaching here in 2013.  Hart has been married to her husband, Brian, for twenty-three years, and has two daughters—Lauren and Lindsey. Lauren is currently a freshman in college and Lindsey is a junior in high school. During their free time, the Harts enjoy watching movies, playing games, or just hanging out.
