Understanding and Working with Sexual Infidelity

A Panel Discussion Response to Ashley Madison

From the Counseling Department at MidAmerica Nazarene University

Marriage signifies the union of two individuals and their families.  From legal act to holy sacrament, marriage signifies a joint declaration of faithful commitment.  Recently, the hacking of Ashley Madison, the web-based platform that boldly encourages married individuals to “have an affair,” stripped users of their anonymous identities.  Approximately 36.5 million Ashley Madison accounts exist, and while the right to privacy and issues of identity protection are at stake, the volume of people seeking this service is alarming.  Results of this massive web hack include a range of devastation from divorce to job loss, and even reports of suicide.  The source of what leads individuals to Ashley Madison and similarly advertised sites, and how to be of assistance to those who are impacted, have become timely topics for discussion.

The Counseling Department at MidAmerica Nazarene University invites you to attend a panel discussion highlighting the implications of infidelity and how to work toward repairing lives and relationships. Whether you are in a helping profession or just want to learn more about relationship needs, you do not want to miss this symposium titled Understanding and Working with Sexual Infidelity: A Panel Discussion Response to Ashley Madison on September 22, from 5:30-7 p.m. at MidAmerica Nazarene University in Bell Cultural Events Center. The event is free and open to the public.
