about

The 13th Annual Mark Wood Rock Orchestra Music Festival!

Empowering musicians of all ages to think and act creatively in today's world.

TRACY SILVERMAN
Mark Wood and Tracy Silverman met each other around the time when they were attending Juilliard School of Music. Since then, Mark watched Tracy build an incredibly diverse and successful career as an electric violinist. The best version of the Turtle Island String Quartet was him, Darol Anger, Danny Seidenberg, and Mark Summer. Tracy tours yearly with Jim Brickman and is the violinist most associated with the John Adams “Big Sur” concerto.

RUDOLF HAKEN
Rudolf Haken is Professor of Electric Strings and Viola at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. Haken has performed his electric concertos with numerous orchestras in Asia, Europe, North America and South America. He is a recipient of the American Record Guide “Critics’ Choice” award and has served on the faculties of music festivals throughout the world, in addition to his work as an orchestral violist with the Houston Symphony and orchestra tours of China and Korea. Plans for Summer 2022 include performing at the Bayreuth Young Artists’ Festival in Germany with the University of Illinois Electric Strings Ensemble and Hip-Hop Collective.

HAYDN VITERA
Haydn Vitera is one of the amazing Artist Mentors on our Electrify Your Strings team. Formerly a member of Grammy-winning Asleep at the Wheel, Haydn is a multi-talented instrumentalist who plays guitar, keys, and most notably, electric violin on his 6-string fretted Viper, introduced by Vitera for the first time into the Latin genre.
