about the program
Ideal for an education major who also loves math and would like to become more marketable, the Middle Level Math program lets you become licensed in math grades 5-8. At MNU, mathematics and education content is taught both separately and through courses that integrate mathematics content, pedagogy, and technology.
YOU WILL LEARN

Field and clinical experiences in a variety of school districts enable you to gain a deeper understanding of the diversity of educational needs. And educational travel can expand your learning even more, allowing you to teach in diverse international settings.

As a graduate, you will complete all Kansas requirements for teacher certification. Our faculty will also help you find out how to become certified in other states, and many are similar to Kansas requirements.

Networking Opportunities

Our students have access to the best teacher mentors in the field. Through our Clinical Mentoring Team (CMT)—a teaching excellence team—we provide cooperating teachers who have both amazing classroom expertise and coaching abilities.

While you’re here, you can join the Educators Rising organization, for great networking opportunities as well as training and preparation for the job search. Based on your academic achievements, you can also participate in our chapters of the Gamma Chi and Pi Lambda Theta honor societies.

YOU SHOULD KNOW
  • We are accredited by CAEP
  • There is a separate application and admission process
  • For more than 10 years 100% of MNU's teacher candidates in mathematics education have passed the PRAXIS content exam and the PLT required for certification.
  • Extensive scholarship opportunities are available

SCHOLARSHIPS AVAILABLE

Scholarship opportunities are also available to you—John Stephens Memorial Scholarships and Mathematics Scholarship as well as Education and TEACH grant scholarships. These are awarded to sophomores, juniors and seniors based on performance and financial need.

I believe that exploring Creation through mathematical modeling gives us a better understanding of God, our Creator. God reveals His beauty and character in many ways, and mathematics is one of those ways.
