MIDDLE-LEVEL SCIENCE EDUCATION prepares you to teach highly complex science concepts through programming grounded in amazing labs and hands-on experiences that allow learners in grades 5, 6, 7, and 8 to explore the world of science.
About the Program
Ideal for an education major who also loves science and would like to become more marketable, the Middle Level Science degree lets you become licensed in science grades 5-8.
You’ll learn about the natural world by studying zoology, botany, microbiology, genetics, ecology, chemistry and more. You will also study how people grow and learn, and how to engage students in research and hands-on study. You’ll learn how to communicate these complex ideas to other people through hands-on laboratory classes, educational travel and outdoor field experiments.
Our students have access to the best teacher mentors in the field. Through our Clinical Mentoring Team (CMT)—a teaching excellence team—we provide cooperating teachers who have both amazing classroom expertise and coaching abilities.
While you’re here, you can join the Educators Rising organization, for great networking opportunities as well as training and preparation for the job search. Based on your academic achievements, you can also participate in our chapters of the Gamma Chi and Pi Lambda Theta honor societies.
Scholarship opportunities are also available to you—John Stephens Memorial Scholarships as well as Education and TEACH grant scholarships. These are awarded to sophomores, juniors and seniors based on performance and financial need.
