MUSIC-WORSHIP ARTS prepares you spiritually, theologically, musically, practically, and technically to lead God’s people in worship.

About the Program

Worship Arts students study music theory and history, become knowledgeable about genres of worship including historical and modern trends, become skilled in singing and playing keyboard and guitar, gain skills in improvisation and arranging, study audio/visual media systems and technology, and develop an individual philosophy of worship from a theological context. Students choose a vocal, piano, or instrumental concentration. Students will advance in their music literacy, accompaniment, and improvisation abilities. Final projects include a solo performance, demonstrating mastery of classical and contemporary styles and genres, as well as an internship with a local church in worship leading Ensemble performing opportunities include singing and/or playing in contemporary worship bands as well as classically-oriented ensembles


Music major scholarships and/or music ensemble participation scholarships are available to exceptional students who complete the Music Scholarship Application Form and perform a successful audition.

Top-notch Facilities

The Bell Cultural Events Center is the home to Fine & Performing Arts at MNU. This 40,000 square foot building is a state-of-the-art performance and classroom facility.

Mabee Performing Arts Hall: With seating for 540, the hall is used for musical concerts, theatrical performances and other arts events
Jones Instrumental Hall: This large rehearsal room is used for Jazz Band and Concert Band practice and other instrumental classes.

Students in the Worship Arts program will complete a semester internship with a local church music ministry perfecting their rehearsal leadership skills, congregational presentation, and administrative competence.
