Life, Community and Faith
MNU is a community of Christian faith and learning. Here you’ll grow in relationship with others and with God. Whether you live on campus or commute, you’ll find a close campus community where there’s always something fun going on.
spiritual life on campus
At MNU our faith is lived out within our campus community. Weekly chapel services each Tuesday are the heart of our campus, with students, faculty and staff worshipping together. In addition, students can participate in a number of small group studies during each semester.
All undergrad students are required to participate in chapel and other spiritual life activities each semester to earn spiritual formation credits. Spiritual formation is an intentional part of our community—we strive to make MNU a place where students encounter God and grow in the Christian faith. Spiritual formation shapes us individually and as a campus as we grow closer to Jesus together.
Students at MNU growth their faith through a variety of community service opportunities. Some of our current opportunities for ministry include:
- Outreach to the elderly
- Inner city youth mentoring
- Local elementary school partnerships
- Human trafficking advocacy
- Homeless outreach
- Leading worship at summer camps
Each semester you will have a chance to get involved in a growing number of ministries and outreach opportunities.
do you Have a passion to serve?
If you want to make an impact on the world, MNU is the place for you. Each year our student body leads a campus-wide Passion to Serve project. These projects have taken MNU students to rural Haiti to build a soccer field, to Guatemala to build a health clinic and to our neighbors in Kansas City to support an inner-city youth organization.
Community service and mission trips will keep you in touch with the needs that are present in our ever-changing world.
find your home
Where will I be living? If you’re like most people, this is high on your priority list. Having a strong community at MNU is important to us so we are a residential campus. That means unless you live at home with parents or are married, you'll live on campus until age 22.

Kansas City—the midwest’s “it” city
Not to brag, but Kansas City is incredible. We were the first city in the world to get Google Fiber and the first in the Midwest to recently re-introduce electric mass transit (in our shiny KC Streetcars). Museums, concerts, great food, professional sports and incredible internships—they’re all right here!
Internships. Student teach in award-winning school districts, complete a clinical rotation in a labor and delivery unit, or work alongside the creative team at the Kansas City Chiefs.
Job Opportunities. KC is home to explosive job growth. Companies like Garmin, Cerner and H&R Block are headquartered here, along with marketing and advertising pro’s like VML and Barkley.
Alumni Networking. Many of our alums love KC so much that they stay here, offering you a great network of Pioneers. They come to campus events and participate in our mentoring program and career fair.
Silicon Prairie. KC is smack in the middle of this multi-state region, which is making national news as a hub for careers in supply-chain, logistics, technology and other digital fields.
A city of champions. Oh hey – the Royals, Chiefs and Sporting KC are all here. Students love going to games and usually become ultimate fans for at least one of these awesome teams.
Get Ready for Amazing Food. BBQ is serious business here. So are food trucks, coffee and donuts. Hear our own students describe just how great the food is in KC!
Explore Our Incredible Arts Culture. The Kauffman Center for the Performing Arts is home to the Kansas City Ballet, Lyric Opera and the Symphony.
In the Neighborhood. Our metro area is filled with small, unique neighborhoods like Brookside, 18th and Vine, the West Bottoms, the River Market and the Crossroads District. These are great places to explore!
