MNU provides a variety of voluntary benefits for full time employees. A brief explanation of those benefits follow.
Health, Vision and Dental Coverage
Health, vision and dental coverage for the employee is provided by the University. Dependent and family benefits are available at an additional cost to the employee. Coverage is effective the first month following the first day of employment.

Life Insurance, AD&D Insurance, and LTD
The University provides basic Life Insurance, basic Accidental Death and Dismemberment Insurance (AD&D), and Long Term Disability (LTD) coverage.
Basic Life and AD&D coverage is one times the employee’s annual base salary to a maximum of $50,000. The employee has the option to purchase additional life insurance for themselves, their spouses, and dependent children.
Long Term Disability coverage is provided for full time employees. The LTD plan pays 60% of employees annual salary should they be disabled on a long term basis.
AFLAC
Full time employees may elect to participate in any of the following options provided by AFLAC:
- Cancer Indemnity
- Hospital Intensive Care
- Accident Indemnity
- Group Critical Illness
Participation is voluntary with premiums paid by the employee.

Paid Time Off
The PTO plan includes leave time for reasons of vacation, personal leave, and sick leave for employees and family members. PTO hours do not count as work hours for calculating overtime. Please consult the PTO Accrual Table for more information.
Holiday Policy
Holiday hours represent compensated absences in addition to the PTO plan. MNU observes the following holidays:
When the actual holiday falls on Saturday the Friday before will be observed as the Holiday. When the actual holiday falls on Sunday the following Monday will be observed as the Holiday.

Tuition Remission
Employees, spouses, and dependents are eligible for tuition remission per the tuition remission policy.
Community Service Leave
The University provides two days (16 hours) of paid leave for employees to provide volunteer services in our community per the Community Service Leave Policy.
Short Term Disability
The University provides disability leave for full time faculty and staff after one year of employment per the Short Term Disability Policy.
Payroll Information
All MidAmerica Nazarene University employees are paid on the fifteenth and the last day of each month. If the payday falls on a weekend or holiday, checks will be issued on the last workday prior to the regular payday. Full time, Regular Part-time employees, and Adjunct staff are required to have their checks direct deposited or deposited onto a payment card.

MNU has teamed up with several providers to offer the following discounts to its employees.
Faculty and Staff now have access to our Office Depot discount contract. Save on everything from paper to ink cartridges to furniture. The discount even applies to the Office Depot Copy Center. Once your personal credit card has been registered, you can go to the Office Depot store, make your purchase, swipe the card you have registered, and receive the discounted price! The purchase is charged to your credit card. It’s simple and it’s easy. Plus, security is never an issue since no name, expiration date or card type is given when registering the card number.
