Alum Lisa Clements to Speak Oct. 24

Carry the Torch Award Winner to Speak at MNU Homecoming Chapel

Clements, a 1980 graduate of MNU, is the widow of Tom Clements, former executive director of the Colorado Department of Corrections who died March 19, 2013, when a gunman shot him as he answered the front door of his Monument, Colorado, home.

Lisa Clements is the recipient of MidAmerica Nazarene University’s 2014 Carry the Torch award. She has appeared on CNN and in numerous publications following her husband’s tragic death.

Tom Clements, a 1979 graduate of MNU, spent more than 30 years in public service in Missouri and Colorado corrections and was highly regarded by officials in both states. He worked with the Special Olympics and served as an adjunct professor at Columbia College in Mo., among other professional and community organizations. He was involved with the United Way and was passionate about serving his community.

This event is free and open to the public.
