KCA Names MNU Professor to Hall of Fame

April 8, 2014

MNU has another Hall of Famer. Mary Fry, PhD, associate professor of counselor education and school counselor track coordinator, was recently presented the Kansas Counselors Association Hall of Fame award at the KCA Conference Awards Luncheon March 7, 2014. Fry’s husband, colleagues, and students were in attendance—to surprise her.

Several individuals wrote letters in support of Dr. Fry receiving this award.

"She is a wealth of knowledge and is an unwavering beacon of light that is guiding us all through our program with precise precision."

"Her compassion is limitless and her comprehension is impeccable."

“Dr. Mary is a world class professional in the counseling profession, has that ‘win, win, win’ teamwork attitude with her colleagues, is an approachable leader among her students."

“She possesses all of the qualifications of someone who should be honored with this award."

The KCA Hall of Fame award recognizes someone who has provided significant contributions in counseling at the local, state and national levels through the development of programs, innovations in counseling, initiation or improvement in counseling services, and production of research in the field of counseling.

Fry has certainly met that standard having been a member of nine professional organizations in the field of counseling as well as in the leadership of the Association for Play Therapy (APT) as chairman of the Board and as a board member. She is also a founding board member of the Kansas Association for Play Therapy and served a term as president of the organization. Fry is published and has presented at numerous conferences. She is a co-founder of MNU’s Play Therapy program.
