Pete Brumbaugh (’90, MBA ’04) is MNU’s new director of alumni engagement and annual giving effective February 1, 2019. He has been a member of the University Advancement team for the past four years directing annual giving and is taking on the alumni engagement position with enthusiasm.
“I am excited to hear the hopes and dreams our alumni have for the institution and help deepen their connection with MNU,” Brumbaugh says. “Previous directors have laid a great foundation of events and activities for our alums. One area I’d like to improve is the reunion experience at Homecoming.”
Brumbaugh brings a wealth of experience to the position, having served for 12 years in the nonprofit sector at Heart to Heart International and the Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Kansas City. On top of building long term relationships and increasing donor engagement, he has also been a marketing professor in MNU’s MBA program. From 1994-96, he served as a resident educator and the publications advisor at MNU. Brumbaugh also worked five years at Garmin leading their media relations team.
Since his return to MNU, Brumbaugh has strived to revitalize annual giving through the Phonathon program, initiated MNU’s participation in the Giving Tuesday phenomenon and launched MNU’s crowdfunding platform. He also leads the auction committee for MNU’s premier fundraising event, President’s Honors.
He married Tami (Cope, MED '19) Brumbaugh in 1993. They have two daughters: Hannah, a freshman at MNU and Halee, a sophomore in high school. He and his family reside in Olathe and are members of College Church of the Nazarene.
