MNU Donates Computers to University in Africa

When MNU Associate Vice President for Technology Marty Crossland received a request to donate computers to Africa Nazarene University in Ongata Rongai, Kenya, he was thankful that MNU had the means to contribute to the project started by sister university Olivet Nazarene in Illinois.

“MNU was recently blessed with the means to acquire a significant number of new computers for its faculty and staff,” Crossland said. “Subsequently, we retired a significant number of older, but still working and serviceable computers from our inventory. About the same time we found out about the extreme need that ANU had for working computers of any kind.”

Crossland worked with Jacob Garrett, assistant director of application services at ONU, to donate the computers. Most of the nearly 250 machines were laptops and the rest were desktop models with monitors.

MNU IT personnel filled four large wooden shipping crates (cubical crates roughly 4 feet on each side) with computers in November. Additionally, there were two large cardboard boxes. ONU sent a truck to MNU’s Olathe campus specifically to pick up the shipment for its next leg in the journey to Kenya.
