Pioneer Softball Advances to National Tournament

The MidAmerica Nazarene University Pioneer softball team emerged as the Heart of America Athletic Conference (HAAC) tournament champions last week, knocking off regular season conference champion Central Methodist University with a final 5-2 victory on Saturday.

Contributing with a 2-run homer, MNU's Jen Costa added to her mounting home run count. Costa continues to lead the NAIA with a total of 27 home runs so far this season, and contributed 2 runs to Saturday's victory.

Short stop Tianna George added 2 runs of her own, rounded out by junior Becca McCoy, who scored on an RBI from Taylor Ryal.

The Pioneers finished the season with a 38-10 record, and now advance to pool play in the NAIA National Tournament.
