Dramaturgical Note

Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat
is a light-hearted and playful retelling of the story
of Joseph found in Genesis 37 & 39-45.
Because of its more comedic nature,
the accuracy to the biblical text is a bit loose
when it comes to details, although it still
touches on most of the important
story beats in the narrative.

While the show itself has garnered some controversy
for its apparent light-hearted treatment of the text,
we, as a Nazarene university, are committed to
glorifying God through all our productions,
especially with a Biblical story such as this.
Our goal is to bring out the truth of God’s goodness,
beauty, and love–which we believe can be found
even in the more joyful and playful moments
in the show. Although God may not be explicitly
mentioned, the events of the show itself reveal
God’s hand on Joseph and His people
throughout the entire story.

Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat
is presented through special arrangement
with Concord Theatricals (CT).
All authorized performance materials
are also supplied by CT.
