Internet Privacy and Data Statement

MNU is committed to respecting your privacy. We’ve structured our websites so that, in general, you can visit MNU on the Web without identifying yourself or revealing any personal information. Once you choose to provide us personally identifiable information (any information by which you can be identified), you can be assured that it will only be used to support your relationship with MNU.

This statement regarding the privacy of the personally identifiable information you provide online covers five main areas: AwarenessChoiceAccuracy & AccessSecurity, and Oversight.

Awareness

MNU provides this Internet privacy and data statement to make you aware of our privacy policy and practices and of the choices you can make about the way your information is collected and used.

What We Collect

On some MNU web pages, you may be able to order products or services, make requests, and register to receive materials or additional web services. The types of personal information collected at these pages are name, contact and billing information, transaction, and credit card information and any other information that may be needed to improve our quality of service to you.

How We Use It

MNU uses your information to better understand your needs and provide you with better service. Specifically, we use your information to help you complete a transaction, to communicate back to you, to update you on services and benefits, and to personalize our web sites for you. Credit card numbers are used only for payment processing and are not retained for other purposes.

From time to time, we may provide you with information we think would be of particular interest. At a minimum, we will always give you the opportunity to opt out of receiving direct marketing information.

Who We Share It With

MNU will not sell, rent, or lease your information to others. Unless we have your permission or are required by law, we will not share your information with other parties. If you are an alumnus of MidAmerica Nazarene University we will share some of your personal data with other MNU Alumni. You may request that we not share your information with other MNU Alumni (contact us at alumni@mnu.edu or (913) 791-3275).

Service Providers

We may employ third party companies and individuals. These third parties have access to your Personal Data only to perform tasks on our behalf and are obligated not to disclose or use it for any other purpose.

Google Analytics

Google Analytics is a web analytics service offered by Google that tracks and reports website traffic. Google uses the data collected to track and monitor the use of our service. This data is shared with other Google services. Google may use the collected data to contextualize and personalize the ads of its own advertising network.

You can opt-out of having made your activity on the Service available to Google Analytics by installing the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on. The add-on prevents the Google Analytics JavaScript (ga.js, analytics.js, and dc.js) from sharing information with Google Analytics about visits activity.

Choice

MNU will not use or share the personally identifiable information provided to us in ways unrelated to the ones described above without first letting you know and offering you a choice. As previously stated, we will also provide you the opportunity to let us know if you do not wish to receive unsolicited direct marketing materials from us and we will do everything we can to honor such requests. Local country laws and policies are applied where they differ from those in the U.S. For general requests, please contact us at marketing@mnu.edu.

Accuracy & Access

MNU strives to keep your personally identifiable information accurate. If you are an MNU Alumnus, we will provide you with access to your information, including making every effort to provide you with online access to your data so that you may view, update or correct your information at the MNU Alumni site. To protect your privacy and security, we will also take reasonable steps to verify your identity before granting you access or enabling you to make corrections. Certain areas of MNU’s websites may limit access to specific individuals, who do so through providing personally identifiable information.

Links to third party web sites on the site are provided solely as a convenience to you. If you use these links, you will leave this site. MNU has not reviewed all of these third party sites and does not control and is not responsible for any of these sites, their content or their Privacy Policy. Thus, MNU does not endorse or make any representations about them, or any information, software or other products or materials found there, or any results that may be obtained from using them. Security

MNU is committed to ensuring the security of your information. To prevent unauthorized access or disclosure, maintain data accuracy, and ensure the appropriate use of information, we have put in place appropriate physical, electronic, and managerial procedures to safeguard and secure the information we collect. We use encryption when collecting or transferring sensitive data such as credit card information.

Dr. Abby Hodges

Vice President for Academic Affairs

PhD; Organic Chemistry, Yale University

Dr. Hodges began her career in higher education at Azusa Pacific University as a chemistry professor from 2008 to 2014. She then moved to MNU where she taught and in 2018 was appointed Chair of the Department of Natural, Health, and Mathematical Sciences. From 2022-2023, before accepting the Interim Vice President for Academic Affairs, Dr. Hodges was the Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences.

Dr. Hodges’ career research has focused on protein folding and protein engineering, and she has mentored over twenty students in these research projects. She has also furthered the MNU first-year experience program and chaired the General Education committee for five years. Dr. Hodges was recognized as the MNU Faculty of the Year in 2021.

Dr. Hodges lives in Olathe with her husband Ryan and two boys.

University Cooperative Program

Advantages of the MNU & Southwest Baptist University Cooperative Program:

  • Preference points on application into a highly competitive program.
  • Mission alignment between Southwest Baptist University and MNU.

To qualify for the MNU & Southwest Baptist University Cooperative Program  students must:

  • Have a minimum 3.0 overall GPA.
  • Complete the GRE
  • Complete the PT application through PTCAS
  • Provide documentation of 40 hours observation in physical therapy.
  • Complete selected prerequisite courses with a minimum of “C” and a 3.25 prerequisite GPA.

Your adviser will work with you to ensure that you take the required prerequisite courses to qualify for this program.

University Cooperative Program

Advantages of the MNU & K-State Cooperative Program:

  • Exposure to graduate-level courses not offered at MNU
  • Opportunity for an accelerated pathway for a master’s degree from K-State Olathe
  • Access to additional professional development resources offered through K-State

To qualify for program entry at MNU students must:

  • Be a junior or senior at MidAmerica Nazarene University
  • Be majoring in biology or similar field
  • Maintain a 3.5 GPA or higher
  • Have the recommendation of MNU faculty

To qualify for program entry at K-State students must:

  • Complete a minimum of 75 hours of undergraduate degree prior to applying for program
  • Complete a minimum of 90 hours of undergraduate degree prior to attending K-State classes
  • Provide a short essay detailing why the student wants to participate in the advanced sciences program
  • Complete the application process

University Cooperative Program

Advantages of the MNU & Kansas City University of Medicine and Biosciences partnership program:

  • Students spend 3 years at MNU and 4 years at KCU
  • Requirement for Medical College Admission Test (MCAT) is waived
  • Students graduate with a degree from both institutions (B.S. from MNU and D.O. from KCU)
  • The Program is available at both Kansas City and Joplin campuses

To qualify for entry into the program at MNU students must:

  • Enter the program at MNU at the beginning of the freshman year through the application process
  • Have a minimum ACT score of 28
  • Participate in community service
  • Have a dedication to the field of osteopathic medicine
  • Meet regularly with the MNU pre-professional committee

To qualify for program completion at KCU students must:

  • Complete all General Education requirements at MNU
  • Complete a minimum of 99 hours of course work at MNU
  • Maintain an overall GPA of 3.25
  • Maintain a science coursework GPA of 3.5
  • Participate in KCU-Com’s weeklong Summer Learning Enhancement Program
  • Complete the following course with a grade of “C” or higher at MNU:
    • Biological Sciences 12 hours
    • Chemistry 13 hours
    • Biochemistry 3 hours
    • Physics 8 hours
    • English Composition 6 hours
