Alumni News

Bill and Theresa (Maynard) Grigory retired from pastoral ministry at the Oregon Pacific District Assembly in May 2022. In November, they returned to Bulgaria on behalf of the Church of the Nazarene Global Missions for the Bulgaria District Assembly where Bill has served as District Superintendent. At that assembly, they also retired from missionary service. Bill and Theresa now reside in Newport, OR.

Sondra (Riley) Cave was elected by the KS District Assembly of God delegates to the District Presbytery Board of Directors. She is the first woman to be elected by this district in 104 years. Her husband Bob (’96) also serves on the board – making them also the first husband-wife duo to serve in the history of the board.

Jerry Storz published a book, “Thirty Days to Better Board Members and Meetings,” a devotional that serves as a guide to board members of faith-based organizations to help them improve their leadership and service.

Vickie (Hill ’84) Godwin is now a Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist at the Shortgrass Community Center in Hollis, OK.

Ty Lasher (’86) was selected to be a new Governing Body Member of the League of Kansas Municipalities. Ty is the City Manager of Bel Aire, Kansas.

Danette (Moore) Buchanan earned a Ph.D. in Counselor Education and Supervision from Liberty University in May 2022.

Dr. Paul MacPherson was elected as the district superintendent for the Maine District Church of the Nazarene. He and his wife, Theresa (Palmer ’95), began their assignment on June 15, 2022. They previously pastored for 10 years in Leonardtown, MD.

Jeff Nyhus is celebrating five years on the Information Technology staff at Cerner Corporation.

Theresa Lynn is helping people manage their lifetime philanthropy as the Director of Planned and Legacy Giving with the Archdiocese of Kansas City in Kansas.

Ryan Freels is now a Financial Advisor with Edward Jones.

Jonathan Hoffman is now the Marketing and Communications Director at Compass Group USA. He is based in the Boston area.

Jason Lovelace is the Assistant Pastor for English Ministries at the Korean Antioch Church of the Nazarene in Kansas City, KS.

Darin Watson was promoted to Content Production Manager at Informa Media.

Dr. Brent Moore earned his MBA from Indiana Wesleyan University, where he directs the Clinical Mental Health Counseling Program in the IWU Graduate School of Counseling.

Gabriela Johnson wrote a chapter in a book: “The Students We Have: Compassionate Grading in Online Courses” in the book: Advancing DEI and Creating Inclusive Environments in the Online Space (Nina McCune, Editor) that comes out in August 2022.

Chad Keller is the Chief Nurse of Community Care at the Robert J. Dole VA Medical Center.

Shiloh Ray is helping clients at Benilde Hall as an Addiction Counselor Intern. He recently celebrated 11 years with Half Price Books, Records, and Magazines in Independence, MO.

Rev. Sarah Lowenberg is Associate Pastor of Russellville First United Methodist Church, Russellville, AR.

Rev. Michael Lowenberg is the Pastor of Wesley United Methodist Church, Russellville, AR.

Andrew Pottenger wrote “Power and Rhetoric in the Ecclesiastical Correspondence of Constantine the Great,” based on his Ph.D. research. The book will be published in November 2022 by Routledge.

Taren (Spruill) McMurray received her Master of Science in Financial Planning from the University of Georgia in August 2021. She passed the CFP exam in November 2022. Taren is an owner and senior advisor at Family Investment Center in Lenexa, KS. 

Nachelle Kaughman is now a Recruiter with K-Coe Isom, a mission-driven firm helping the people who clothe and feed the world grow their business in the agriculture industry.

Cliff Spruill is helping folks get from Point A to Point B as a Driver for Uber.

Courtney Cox was recently promoted to Senior Manager for Associate Relations at Bloomingdale’s.

Jeb Flynn earned his MA in Financial Planning from Kansas State University. 

Ryne Huff is putting leadership skills to work as a National Recruiter for Southwind, a company co-founded by alum Josh Herron (’08).

Sydney Tenney is starting a new position as Primary Therapist at Lightfully Behavioral Health in San Diego. Sydney was previously a member of MNU’s Admission team.

Dion Lewis (MBA ’16) was recently promoted to Community Engagement and Economic Development Officer with the City of Kansas City, MO.

Kristin (Chatham) Simmons earned her MEd from Pittsburg State University. She teaches third grade at Randall Elementary School in Independence, MO.

Victoria Atencio was promoted to Marketing & Communications Director at YMCA of the Pikes Peak Region in Colorado Springs.

Dr. Matthew Eastwood was recently promoted to Scientist II, Chemistry at PTC Therapeutics.

Konner McIntire is now a Broadcast Journalist with Sinclair Broadcast Group in the Washington, D.C. area. Konnor was named MNU’s Young Alum of the Year in 2021.

Jessica Scarlett received her Master of Science in Nursing degree and starts in August as a nurse practitioner at St. Luke’s Hospital.

Jonathan Babcock is helping Compass Group Equity Partners find new clients as a Business Development Associate.

Harold Flach is the Youth Pastor for Crossbridge Community Church of the Nazarene.

Blake Bradford is making life better for clients as a Junior Developer at City Lifestyle.

Jaquelynn (Huck, MAC ’21) Cornelius is now a Licensed Professional Counselor at Thomason Counseling Services in Nampa, Idaho. Her husband, Andrew (’19), is forming student leaders and expanding campus life at Northwest Nazarene University as the Community Life Director.

Levi Lacy earned his MEd from Emporia State University. He is a middle school choir director in the Shawnee Mission (KS) School District.

Callie Frizzell earned her Occupational Therapy Doctorate (OTD) from the University of Kansas.

Kallie Uher earned her MS in journalism from the University of Kansas.

Tessa Ward earned her JD from the University of Missouri – Kansas City School of Law.

Nicole (Swiler-Cardwell) Dixon joined the Sunflower Health Plan in Gardner, KS, as a Quality Improvement Specialist.

Reagan Devinney is making her way in the world as a Marketing Coordinator at Avid Armor, a market leader in the food service equipment industry.

Elizabeth Krohn is making the most of her marketing degree as a Financial Account Representative at Shamrock Trading Corporation, the Overland Park, KS-based parent company for a family of brands in transportation services, finance and technology.

Ashlynn (Holsinger) Miller was promoted to Office and Personnel Manager at Fun in the Son Ministries at Camp Table Rock.
