About the Artist
Julia is a local Kansas City artist. She was born in California and raised in New Mexico. Although she was surrounded by scientists, her family always encouraged her talent and passion for art. Julia graduated from the Colorado Institute of Art with a degree in Advertising Design but has moved in a variety
of creative expressions over the years.
She has traveled extensively working with live productions in dance, media, video, and more. Now she is focused on painting and drawing using oil paint, charcoal, and pastels.
Artist Statement
I love creating fine art through the One who created Creativity. “In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.” God created everything, including people, and gave us the ability to be creative! I love to paint plants, animals, sea creatures, and all the things in nature. Through the artistic process, I find a deep appreciation and amazement for the beautiful things in this world. To me, creating artwork is a place of worship. It is a time where I find inspiration and communion with my Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Inspiration may simply be the beauty found in the subject matter. Other times, there may be a deeper meaning or story behind the work. I believe that God speaks through it all. I love it when the ideas come to life through my artwork.
