This website provides important information to help you prepare for Commencement Weekend. Information will be added, so please check back frequently.

- Traditional Undergraduate Commencement: Saturday, May 5, 10 a.m., College Church of the Nazarene
- Professional and Graduate Commencement: Saturday, May 5, 3 p.m., College Church of the Nazarene
Commencement Ceremony Rehearsals
Rehearsals for all graduates are held on the Thursday of commencement weekend. All students planning to participate in commencement should attend rehearsal. During rehearsal, graduates will obtain important information pertaining to their respective ceremony (seating, honor cords, name pronunciation, etc.) and meet the director of alumni. Rehearsal is required for those who have been chosen to participate in the ceremony (invocation, benediction, Scripture reader, etc.) or in the procession (flag/banner carrier).

GradImages® is the official photographer at the MNU Commencement. Your photos will be available to view and order within 48-72 hours after the ceremony by visiting their website at www.gradimages.com.
Simply enter your Last Name, your School Name: MidAmerica Nazarene University and select 2018 from the drop-down menu. Once you see your name, click on the link to view your photos.

Special Accommodation Information
Graduates who need special accommodations should contact Shawnda McLeod in the Office of Academic Affairs, 913-971-3393, firstname.lastname@example.org.
To assist the Registrar’s Office with seating arrangements, graduates who are not planning to participate in commencement should contact the Registrar’s Office at 913-971-3626.
Pronunciation of Names
Graduates have the option to indicate phonetic pronunciation/clarify pronunciation of first and/or last names on the graduation application or attend commencement rehearsal to speak with the reader of names on Thursday, May 3 (Traditional: 3:30 pm; Professional & Graduate: 5:45 pm).
Caps and Gowns
Graduates wear their cap and gown for all commencement activities. If graduates are unable to attend Grad Finale to pick up their cap and gown, they can pick them up in the Registrar’s Office or send a family member or friend to pick it up. All caps and gowns must be picked up prior to commencement weekend. “Extras” are not available during the weekend.
Graduates are able to pick up their cap and gown from the Registrar’s Office (after Grad Finale) approximately 4 weeks after submitting their graduation application, provided the application was approved and the cap and gown information was complete.

Grad Finale Information
Grad Finale dates:
- Feb 26, 2018 - Bell Cultural Events Center, 3 p.m. to 7 p.m.
- Feb 27, 2018 - Bell Cultural Events Center, 10:30 a.m. to 7 p.m.
- March 6, 2018 - Santa Fe Commons Site, 13563 Mur-Len Rd., 4 p.m. to 8 p.m.
Grad Finale is an event designed specifically for Graduates. At this event, graduates have the opportunity to pick up their cap and gown, purchase specialized items from The Merc, order commencement announcements, and finalize matters with the Registrar’s Office and Cashier’s Office.
Graduates who want to purchase graduation announcements or class rings should contact Jostens directly at www.jostens.com or 1-800-854-7464.
Diplomas are ordered by the Registrar’s Office after grades have been submitted and all requirements have been completed. The appropriate degrees and honors will be awarded to the candidates who have completed all requirements. Contact the Registrar’s Office at 913-971-3626 with any questions.
Diplomas are mailed to graduates once degree requirements have been met and degrees awarded.They are mailed to the address provided on the graduation application.
Lost and Found
The official lost and found during the weekend is at the information booth located in the Vanderpool Lobby at College Church. Please be aware that we are unable to provide a secure place for you to leave personal items. The university is not responsible for lost or stolen items.

It is the graduate's responsibility to return library books and settle student accounts. Failure to follow through on these details will make it impossible for the university to release diplomas and official transcripts.

There is open parking during Commencement Activities in the College Church of the Nazarene and Cook Center parking lots.
Seating and Tickets
Tickets are not required for any of the Commencement Ceremonies. Seating is on a first-come, first-served basis.
Commencement Ceremonies are held in the College Church of the Nazarene sanctuary. The doors to the sanctuary will be open one hour prior to the start of the Ceremony. Seats may not be saved less than 30 minutes prior. Due to the seats reserved for the graduates, seating is limited on the main floor. The balcony is open seating. Entry to the balcony can be found through the stairs in the North Lobby or via the stairs on either side, inside the sanctuary.
NOTE: There is not an elevator to the balcony.
There will NOT be nursery services provided.
Lost and Found
The official lost and found of the weekend is at the information booth, located in the Vanderpool Lobby, College Church. Please be aware that we are unable to provide a secure place for you to leave personal items. The university is not responsible for lost or stolen items.
There is wheelchair accessible seating in various spots throughout the College Church sanctuary. It is recommended that those needing special accomodations arrive early.
Sign language interpreters will be available and stationed on the platform for both Commencement ceremonies. There is no reserved seating. Seating is on a first-come, first-served basis. Arrival 45 minutes prior to the event start is recommended.
