Impart Your Legacy

Planned Giving Options

Build your legacy with intentional generosity to sustain the mission of MNU forever. Planned giving provides long-lasting support for MNU and our students and may impart financial benefits for you and your family.

Bequests

A bequest is one of the easiest gifts to make. To ensure that your exact intentions are followed, wills, trusts and codicils should be prepared by your personal legal advisor. With the help of an advisor, you can include language in your will or trust specifying a gift be made to family, friends, or MidAmerica Nazarene University as part of your estate plan. You will leave a lasting legacy, lessen the burden of taxes on your family, and may receive estate tax savings.

CGA

Charitable gift annuities (CGA) have the dual benefit of providing you with secure fixed income for life while also supporting MNU’s mission. A charitable gift annuity is a contract between you and the university: you transfer cash or property to MNU and we sign an annuity contract, promising to pay fixed payments for life. A portion of each payment may even be tax-free, and you will receive a charitable income tax deduction for the gift portion of the annuity.

Please contact the MNU Foundation at 913.971.3600 or foundation@mnu.edu for additional information.

IRA Distribution

With intentional generosity, you can support MNU and our students while enjoying financial benefits for yourself. If you are over age 70 ½, you may give a gift to MNU from your IRA as a tax-free distribution. This means an amount (up to $105,000 annually) transferred from your IRA directly to the university can count toward your required minimum distribution without being considered taxable income for you

Cornerstone Society

The Cornerstone Society recognizes those special individuals who have the needs of generations of MidAmerica students at heart. By informing the MNU Foundation of your intention to make a deferred gift, you allow the University to prepare for the future and express our gratitude today.

The Cornerstone Society lays the groundwork for the University’s achievements today and in the decades ahead. It comprises alumni, parents, and friends who have included the MNU Foundation in their estate plans. Gifts that qualify for membership include:

  • Bequests by will or a revocable living trust
  • Qualified retirement plans, which name the MNU Foundation as beneficiary
  • Charitable gift annuities
  • Charitable remainder trusts
  • Life insurance beneficiary designations
  • Gifts of farms and homes
  • Other creative gift plans

If you have already included the MNU Foundation in your charitable and estate plans, please take a moment to become a member of the Cornerstone Society today!

Memorial or Tribute

Memorial and tribute gifts are a great way to celebrate your loved one while supporting the mission of MNU. When you make your donation, you can select a recipient to be notified of your gift and we will send them a personalized message.
