MidAmerica Nazarene University and the Kansas City Mavericks have announced a new partnership, naming MNU the Official Higher Education Partner of the Mavericks. The multi-year agreement brings together two organizations with strong ties to the Kansas City region and creates new opportunities to connect education, professional development, community engagement and Mavericks hockey.

The partnership will introduce MNU and its educational opportunities to Mavericks fans throughout the region while creating opportunities for MNU students, alumni, faculty and staff to engage with one of Kansas City’s professional sports organizations. The relationship will also provide a platform for the university and Mavericks to collaborate on initiatives that extend beyond the rink and serve the broader Kansas City community.

“MNU and the Kansas City Mavericks share a strong commitment to the communities we serve,” said Dr. Jon North, president of MidAmerica Nazarene University. “This partnership gives us an exciting new way to connect with people across the Kansas City region and introduce them to educational opportunities that can help them pursue their goals. We’re proud to stand alongside the Mavericks as their Official Higher Education Partner and look forward to what we can accomplish together.”

Based in Olathe, MNU serves students at multiple stages of life, from traditional undergraduate students beginning their college experience to working adults pursuing bachelor’s, master’s and professional degrees. Through the partnership, Mavericks fans will have increased exposure to MNU’s educational opportunities and the university’s commitment to preparing graduates to lead and serve in their professions and communities.

The partnership also gives MNU a new way to engage its alumni and friends throughout the Kansas City metropolitan area. Mavericks’ games and related activities will provide opportunities to build community around two organizations that share a strong connection to the region.

“We are proud to welcome MidAmerica Nazarene University as the Official Higher Education Partner of the Kansas City Mavericks,” said Lamar Hunt Jr., owner of the Kansas City Mavericks. “MNU has a long-standing presence in our community and a strong commitment to developing future leaders through education and service. This partnership brings together two organizations that believe in investing in people and creating opportunities that extend well beyond our walls. We look forward to building a meaningful relationship that will positively impact Mavericks fans, the MNU community, and the greater Kansas City area.”

As part of the partnership, MNU will have a presence throughout the Mavericks season at Cable Dahmer Arena and across Mavericks digital and streaming platforms. The organizations also plan to develop collaborative promotions and experiences designed to introduce Mavericks fans to MNU while creating distinctive opportunities for members of the MNU community to connect with the team. The partnership represents a shared investment in the Kansas City region. By combining the reach and community presence of professional hockey with MNU’s educational mission, the organizations will explore additional opportunities to support students, professionals, families and communities across the metropolitan area during the term of the agreement.
