Next Steps For 2021 Seniors: Rebecca White

Becca White, a senior from Peoria, Illinois, had high hopes of attending a university where she could continue to play softball and attend a top-tier nursing school—all in a welcoming Christian environment.

“When I came on my tour at MidAmerica, everyone was so welcoming,” Becca says. “They encouraged me to do everything that I was passionate about, including my academics and sports.”

As she described her experience at MNU, it is clear that Becca made the right choice.

“While at MNU, I have been able to push myself out of my comfort zone, creating relationships with people that have similar values that I have, and the professors have actually taken time to get to know me on a deeper level,” Becca says. “This school has given me so many opportunities that I never would have thought would come from a small school outside of Kansas City. I know God had His hand in me finding this school, and I can’t imagine any other school being such a good fit for me.”

Becca has taken part in many sports, clubs, and activities around campus, including softball, student class councils, and participates in the honors program. She has also taken on many roles at MNU, such as nursing class president, an admissions ambassador, and the Director of Events for ASG.

The nursing major has a bright future ahead of her as a registered nurse (RN) at Children’s Mercy Adele Hall Campus, where she currently works as a nurse technician. “We have a lot of patients with Type 1 Diabetes, which is very personal to me because I also am a Type 1 Diabetic. I love being able to encourage the patients and share with them how we both have the same diagnosis.”

“Being involved in Associated Student Government has made the most impact on me in my time at MNU,” she says. “I have been able to work with so many different people on campus, and I have loved trying to choose events that will be enjoyed by everyone on campus. This role has given me an extra sense of pride being a part of this campus.”

The nursing major has a bright future ahead of her as she has accepted a registered nurse (RN) position at Children’s Mercy Adele Hall Campus, where she currently works as a nurse technician. The floor that she works on specializes in pulmonary, endocrine, and neuro patients.

“I have always been passionate about working with kids,” Becca says. “We have a lot of patients with Type 1 Diabetes, which is very personal to me because I also am a Type 1 Diabetic. I love being able to encourage the patients and share with them how we both have the same diagnosis.”

Aside from her new job, Becca is also getting married to Clayton Cook (‘21) this July. Clayton recently landed a job at BKD, a national CPA and advisory firm in Kansas City. They look forward to moving to downtown Kansas City, closer to their jobs and the exciting future that lies ahead.

Before Becca leaves MNU, she has a few words to share with future MNU students.

“There are so many ways to get involved,” Becca says. “When you do something new, you are going to create new opportunities to form relationships with people you might not have known otherwise. I have loved my time at MNU, and I am so thankful for the relationships that I have made.”
