Financial Aid Available

Students should apply directly to MNU. A Nursing CAS application is not required. You may submit your application while some of your prerequisites for the ABSN program are still in progress.

There is no time limit within which your prerequisite courses need to have been taken.

Where should I send my official transcripts?

All official transcripts need to be sent to the Admissions Office for the college of Professional and Graduate Studies. You may also submit unofficial transcripts to MNU for a preliminary unofficial review to determine whether you have missing prerequisites to complete.

Is an interview required?

No. The selection committee uses the personal statement in lieu of an interview.

How long will it take to find out if I am accepted and how will that be communicated to me?

Once your application is complete, it may take a couple of months (depending on where we are in the application cycle) before your application is reviewed by the committee. Once your application is reviewed by the committee, you will be notified by the admissions team via text and email regarding your acceptance status.

What happens if I get accepted into the ABSN program, but cannot start at the designated time?

At times, students have not been able to start the program at the time when classes start for the cohort of students. You can contact the Admissions Department to request a delayed program start date. The details are outlined in our Admission Deferral Policy. If this applies to you, please review the detailed policy and process for deferring your start in our program.

The baccalaureate degree program in nursing at MidAmerica Nazarene University is accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education, 655 K Street NW, Suite 750, Washington DC, 20001, 202-887-6791.

The University accreditation is through the Higher Learning Commission.

BSN Accolades

94% of MNU’s 2024 Bachelor of Science in Nursing graduates passed the NCLEX-RN® exam on the first attempt—higher than state and national averages.

Eligibility for a Professional Nursing License in Kansas

The State of Kansas sets the qualifications for persons to become licensed as registered professional nurses. Completion of the MNU BSN program does not guarantee that a graduate will be eligible for RN licensure. The eligibility for professional nursing practice in Kansas can be found in the Kansas Nurse Practice Act, Section 65-115.

Faculty Award- Nominations Open for Daisy Faculty Award
The DAISY Foundation, as a part of its service to the nursing profession’s role in patient care, established the DAISY Award for Extraordinary Nursing Faculty. The purpose of this program is to provide to colleges/schools of nursing a national recognition program they may use to demonstrate appreciation to educators for their commitment and inspirational influence on their students. The Foundation hopes that, in some way, this program will contribute to a positive work environment for faculty in schools.

Dr. Abby Hodges

Vice President for Academic Affairs

PhD; Organic Chemistry, Yale University 
MS; Organic Chemistry, Yale University 
BS; Chemistry, Denison University

Dr. Hodges began her career in higher education at Azusa Pacific University as a chemistry professor from 2008 to 2014. She then moved to MNU where she taught and in 2018 was appointed Chair of the Department of Natural, Health, and Mathematical Sciences. From 2022-2023, before accepting the Interim Vice President for Academic Affairs, Dr. Hodges was the Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences.

Dr. Hodges’ career research has focused on protein folding and protein engineering, and she has mentored over twenty students in these research projects. She has also furthered the MNU first-year experience program and chaired the General Education committee for five years. Dr. Hodges was recognized as the MNU Faculty of the Year in 2021.

Dr. Hodges lives in Olathe with her husband Ryan and two boys.
