Campus Safety Department
MNU Safety Department officers have full authority on college owned property, as well as the adjacent College Church-owned property. Officers are responsible for a full range of public services, including all crime reports, investigations, non-injury traffic accidents, enforcement of college rules regulating alcohol, possession of controlled substances, weapons, traffic regulations, and all other incidents requiring security assistance. Officers receive training from authorized agencies in the areas of first-aid, report writing, defensive tactics, evidence gathering, traffic investigation, etc. The passage of the Campus Security and Crime Awareness Act in 1990 requires all colleges and universities receiving federal aid to publish crime statistics and statements regarding their crime reporting policies and programs. The purpose of this act is to help inform the campus community of any crime or danger they may encounter while on campus. All crimes committed on campus should be directly reported to the Campus Safety Department. Officers are available 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Campus Safety Helpful Links

The company providing this service is doing so at no charge to MNU or to the individuals who sign up. However, your cellular service provider will charge regular rates for messages received through this service. Signing up for this service is voluntary but the University urges you to do so. You will be asked to sign up each year so that accurate records can be maintained.

Missing Person PolicyThis policy establishes procedures to be followed at MNU in the event a student is reported missing and of the option to provide confidential contact information for a person to be notified in the event the student is officially reported as missing as required by the Higher Education Opportunity Act of 2008.
For purposes of this policy, a student may also be considered to be a “missing person” at any time the person’s absence is contrary to his/her usual pattern of behavior and unusual circumstances may have caused the absence. Such circumstances could include, but not be limited to, a report or suspicion that the missing person may be the victim of foul play, has expressed suicidal thoughts, is in a life-threatening situation, or has been with persons who may endanger the student’s welfare.
Policy for "Active Shooter on Campus"What to do if there is an Active Shooter on campus:The following guidelines are being provided regarding how to respond if there is an active shooter/armed intruder on campus. Be aware no one can predict what actions are most appropriate for every situation that might occur. You could learn of such an incident in several ways, including hearing gunshots, being notified through the University’s emergency text messaging system or being told by another member of the campus community. If you hear a sound that could be gunshots, assume they are gunshots.
The immediate actions you take upon notification of an active shooter on campus could prevent your death or serious injury. Olathe police officers have been trained to respond to this type of incident and will do so immediately, according to department policy. Responding officers are likely to have very little information regarding the description of the intruder or the number of suspects involved. If you must approach a police officer during or immediately after such an incident, clearly show the officer you are not a threat by holding your hands in the air and complying immediately with verbal commands. If you are off-campus at the time you become aware of an active shooter on campus, stay away from the area. The entire campus will have become a protected crime scene and you will not be allowed in the area until all victims have been transported and all evidence has been collected. A telephone hotline will be established to assist you in determining the condition and location of friends and relatives. The number for the hotline will be available through local media outlets. The following guidelines are being provided regarding how to respond if there is an active shooter/armed intruder on campus. This guideline is designed to provide individuals with suggestions on how to better protect themselves during a crisis. In the event of an active shooter on campus, take the following actions:1. If an active shooter is outside your building:
2. If an active shooter is in the same building you are:
3. If an active shooter enters your office or classroom:
