MNU is a community of faith as well as a community of learning. Spiritual formation is a critical component of a student’s MNU experience—we strive to make MNU a place where students encounter God and grow in the Christian faith.
Our guiding principle is the truth affirmed by Wesleyan theology that our salvation is a dynamic process—we are both saved and being saved, holy and being made holy (Acts 20:32; 1 Corinthians 1:18).
Weekly chapel services are at the heart of spiritual life at MNU. These services allow us to be part of a true community and introduce us a variety of spiritual practices and disciplines. Above all, they offer a chance for regular reflection and deepening of one’s relationship to God.

Types of Chapel We offer three very different chapel services, each with their own style of worship:
Community Chapel features a weekly traditional chapel service in College Church.
Morning Prayers is a participatory, yet contemplative, liturgical service that includes readings of the morning prayers and scriptures, hymns, and communion.
Student-led Chapel consists of services planned and led by students for students.
Chapel Alternatives include various series led by the university chaplain that address issues related to life on campus.
Chapel Attendance Chapel attendance is required for all full-time students and is based on a point system—each semester we hold 42 chapel services plus alternatives that altogether are worth sixty-five points. Students fulfill the chapel requirement by attending the types of services they choose and earning 40 points for the semester.
