MNU is celebrating 60 years of faith, learning, and purpose with a yearlong anniversary observance beginning in July 2026 and continuing through July 2027.
Officially chartered by the State of Kansas on December 6, 1966, MNU was founded during a period of unprecedented growth in American higher education. As the first wave of Baby Boom students reached college age, universities across the nation expanded to meet increasing demand. Amid that growth, Mid-America Nazarene College stood apart—established to provide an education grounded in faith, community, and a sense of calling for students across the North Central region.
Over the past six decades, more than 30,000 students have studied at MNU. Today, alumni serve around the world in education, healthcare, business, ministry, counseling, government, science, the arts, and countless other professions, carrying forward the university’s mission through lives of service and leadership.
“The story of MNU has always been a story of people,” said MNU President Jon D. North. “For 60 years, God has used this university to shape students for lives of faith, purpose, and impact. As we celebrate this milestone, we honor those who came before us while looking forward to what God has in store for future generations.”
The anniversary celebration will feature special events throughout the year. One of the largest celebrations will happen during Homecoming Weekend, October 9–11, 2026, including a 60th Birthday Party and Dinner. Additional anniversary activities and commemorative opportunities will be announced in the coming months.
As part of the celebration, MNU is inviting alumni, former students, employees, and friends of the university to share memories, photographs, and stories from their time on campus. Selected submissions may be featured in university publications, social media, exhibits, and anniversary events throughout the year.
Whether you attended classes in the earliest days of Mid-America Nazarene College, graduated recently, or simply have a meaningful connection to the university, your story is part of MNU’s history.
