Logan Frye (’22), BSN, RN, was honored with the DAISY Award® for extraordinary nurses. The DAISY Foundation sponsors the awards. Logan is a staff nurse at Children’s Mercy Hospital (CMH) in Kansas City. At CMH, the DAISY Award is presented monthly to an extraordinary nurse whose clinical skill and compassion make an enormous difference in the lives of patients, families and staff members.
From Logan’s nomination:
Logan had a three-year-old patient who wanted to participate in the hospital’s Bingo game, but players must be at least age four. Because the patient was in COVID isolation he couldn’t leave his room.
It crushed Logan to hear the three-year-old would miss out on Bingo, so he took it upon himself to print out Bingo cards and gather prizes. After giving the card to the patient he sat at the nurses’ desk, dialed into the patient’s room, and called the Bingo numbers. This is just one example of how Logan always goes out of his way to put his patients first.
At MNU, we aren’t surprised that Logan was honored this way. As a student, he always showed enthusiasm and care for others. His holistic education in nursing contributed to the consummate, thoughtful professional he is today. Congratulations, Logan!

About The DAISY Foundation
DAISY is an acronym for diseases attacking the immune system. Honoring Nurses Internationally in memory of J. Patrick Barnes, it was the first program of its kind to give patients, families, and co-workers a way to express their gratitude to nurses for what they became nurses to do—provide compassionate care to patients and families. Since its founding, the DAISY Award® has become a strategic tool for nurse recruitment, retention, and resilience adopted by thousands of healthcare organizations and schools of nursing in the U.S. and worldwide.
