Experiential opportunities linked to travel, learning, and service.
Pioneer Trek is a program designed to curate experiential opportunities linked to three areas of travel, learning, and service:
Local, domestic, and international travel linked to mission focused work and service.
Local, domestic, and/or international travel linked to vocational preparation and service.
International study abroad travel linked to enriching learning experiences at other Coalition for Christian Colleges & Universities (CCCU) and Church of the Nazarene affiliated locations.
At MNU, every student will receive an opportunity to participate in experiential learning for spiritual and/or academic enrichment through the Pioneer Trek program. This program is designed to offer students and on-ramp to missional opportunities and cross-cultural exposure as a means to be the hands and feet of Jesus to both those in our backyards and across the globe.
For many, studying abroad is an invaluable experience that can provide an expanded worldview, new ways of thinking, and the opportunity to view educational and vocational preparation through a new lens. Whether you are considering a domestic or international option, you’ll have the chance to dive headfirst into learning about new cultures, people groups, learning and working styles and more. At MNU, we partner with organizations to provide semester or summer-long opportunities.
This trip is being rescheduled to May 2025. Join MidAmerica Nazarene University’s, Dr. Randy Cloud, Dr. James Edlin, Dr. Dean Flemming, and MNU Bible Professors Emeriti, and Guest Lecturers, on a Holy Land tour. Visit the Sea of Galilee, Capernaum, Bethsaida, the Mount of Beatitudes, Tabgha, Chapel of the Primacy, Nazareth, Mount Tabor, Qasr El Yehud, Jericho, Bethlehem, Shepherds’ Field, Church of the Nativity, Mount of Olives, the Garden of Gethsemane, Jerusalem, House of the High Priest Caiaphas, Upper Room, the Western Wall, pass through Lion’s Gate, and much more.

As part of the General Assembly 2023, we enjoyed making a powerful impact on the city of Indianapolis and other areas around the world. Service projects are an important part of Love Your Neighbor. During the registration process, participants selected the types of projects that interest their team. The project categories were:
Discover Missions was an intentionally global event with university students and leaders from around the world. This event created opportunities for students to learn about missions, gain practical missions experience, and grow in community with students from other regions. During the week, students interacted with many cultures, learned from various missionaries and mission experts, served in a new cultural context, and further discerned God’s call on their lives.
Students were able to experience the grace and love of God through using their nursing skills to assess children that are part of Nazarene Compassion Ministries to identify any health issues that may need to be addressed.
Opened to all MNU instrumental and vocal music students, this trip was focused on teaching music to Ecuadorian children and youth.

Traveling with seasoned international travelers Randy and Loretta Cloud. “We had traveled to this beautiful island and talked to many church pastors who were anxious to receive our MNU students!” Plans took place for activities that could include light construction or vacation Bible school or sports clinics. MNU student Nathan Torres, who is from Puerto Rico himself, was a great resource for supporting our Trek to Puerto Rico.

Please consult your tax advisor for more information.
In accordance with the MNU Foundation Gift Acceptance Policy, all contributions of cryptocurrency are immediately converted to cash upon receipt and cannot be refunded for any reason. While we are happy to honor requests for public anonymity, donors must identify themselves when making a cryptocurrency charitable contribution.

Many companies and corporate foundations encourage their employees’ philanthropic efforts by matching their contributions to non-profit organizations such as MidAmerica Nazarene University. Some companies will even match the donations made by retirees and/or spouses, gifts of volunteering, or offer payroll deduction. In most cases, MidAmerica receives dollar-for-dollar matches. But in some cases, the company’s match doubles or triples the employee’s gift. Use the search bar below to see if your gift is eligible for employer matching!
