Academics & Admissions
Your education is one of the most important investments you’ll ever make. But you may have real questions about how you can afford it.
Our Office of Student Financial Aid Services understands that your financial aid represents an investment in your future. We are committed to helping you determine the best way to pay for your MNU education. We will work hard to help you maximize your financial aid options.
*Additional charges and adjustments are possible (e.g. lab fees, music lessons, health insurance) depending on the types of classes you enroll in. The net price calculator is only accurate for new students. Current students should consult with Student Financial Aid Services for their costs. These estimates are for traditional undergraduate students.
More than 98% of MNU students receive financial aid in the form of grants, scholarships, loans, or work-study. Some awards are made based on financial need, others for academic merit or performance, and some for a combination of the two. We are confident you’ll find real value in your MNU education.
You’ll want to complete your MNU Application for Admission as soon as possible. Both federal and state financial assistance require that you be accepted at MNU before we can finalize your financial aid.
Complete your Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) at studentaid.gov/h/apply-for-aid/fafsa, and be sure to include the MNU school code: 007032. To be considered for federal student aid for the 2024–2025 award year, you can complete a 2024-2025 FAFSA® form between Dec. 31, 2023 and June 30, 2025.
The best way to find out which scholarships you would receive is to fill out our free application and the admissions team will work with you to discover every possible scholarship. If you are not ready to apply, but would like to explore scholarship options please feel free to reach out to Admissions (admissions@mnu.edu) or sign up for a campus visit.
Federal Financial Aid is funds that come from the United States government. This aid includes grants and loans as well as work study programs. Many of these programs are based on your family income.
Pell Grants are awarded to traditional undergraduate students seeking their first bachelor’s degree who demonstrate high financial need.
Awarded to Pell recipients with high financial need. The Federal Supplemental Education Opportunity Grant (FSEOG) system works differently from the Federal Pell Grant Program, which provides funds to every eligible student. Since MNU receives a limited amount of FSEOG funds each year from the U.S. Department of Education’s Office of Federal Student Aid, complete your FAFSA early so your eligibility can be determined before funds are exhausted.
Direct Subsidized Loans are low-interest loans for undergraduate students that help pay for the cost of an MNU education. The lender is the U.S. Department of Education. These loans are available to students who demonstrate need on the FAFSA.
Students must be enrolled at least half-time to be eligible for this loan.
Interest is paid by the Department of Education while the student is enrolled on a half-time or greater basis. The maximum award offered is based on the results of your FAFSA, the cumulative credit hours completed and subject to overall borrowing limits. Repayment begins six months after student graduation or when a student falls below half-time status.
Parent PLUS loans are federal loans that parents of dependent undergraduate students, regardless of income, can use to help pay education expenses.
Repayment is generally required once the loan is fully disbursed but parents may request in-school forbearance to delay the start of payments. To receive a PLUS loan, the student must be enrolled at half-time or greater and a FAFSA is required to be on file.
Grad PLUS Loans are available to graduate students.
Federal work study jobs are part-time jobs for traditional undergraduate students with financial need. A limited number of such jobs are available. These jobs allow you to earn money to help pay education expenses.
At MNU you may work part-time on-campus or part-time as a tutor in an approved off-campus program. Students who receive the Federal Work Study aid will receive that aid in the form of a paycheck, which will be earned as their employment and timesheets are completed throughout the semester. To be considered for Federal Work Study, students must complete the FAFSA each year and have demonstrated financial need.
Requirements for Participation:
Students may be required to go through an interview process to be hired for a position, and eligibility for the program does not guarantee that a student will be hired.
Contact Student Financial Aid Services to see if you qualify for the FWS program and for on-campus job possibilities.
State Financial Aid are funds that come from the state of Kansas.
This aid includes loans and scholarships for Kansas residents. Many of these programs are based on your family income. Residents of Kansas who attend MNU may be eligible to receive funds from the state.
More details can be found at Kansas Regents website.
Awarded to traditional undergraduate students seeking their first bachelor’s who are Kansas residents and attend a Kansas private college or university. These grants are based upon financial need and early application. Apply early as the FAFSA application priority deadline for the Kansas Comprehensive Grant is April 1.
The Kansas Teacher Service Scholarship is a merit-based service obligation scholarship program that provides financial assistance to both students pursuing bachelor’s degree programs and currently licensed teachers pursuing endorsement in hard-to-fill disciplines or master’s degrees in hard-to-fill disciplines or either group planning to teach in an underserved geographic area. Recipients sign agreements to teach one year for each year of scholarship support in Kansas.
The Kansas State Scholarship is designed to assist traditional undergraduate students based on financial need. Recipients must be in the top 20-40% of Kansas high school graduates who are designated as state scholars during the senior year of high school. Completion of the Kansas Scholars Curriculum is one component of the scholarship requirements.

We created the RISE Opportunity Scholarship for working adults because there is a place in the world for your unique talents, hopes and dreams. Let’s RISE to the opportunity together.
The RISE Opportunity Scholarship offers working adults up to $6,000 toward qualified graduate degrees, accelerated degrees and certificate programs. It’s our investment in your future.
The RISE Opportunity Scholarship is not based on financial need but on your acceptance into an eligible degree or certificate program.
MNU is pleased to offer eligible students a convenient, automated payment plan which accommodates paying your semester charges in monthly installments either by bank draft or debit/credit card.
You may choose from one of three options.
Fall Semester Plans | Spring Semester Plans |
---|---|
5 Month: July 1 – November 1 | 5 Month: December 1 – April 1 |
4 Month: August 1 – November 1 | 4 Month: January 1 – April 1 |
3 Month: September 1 – November 1 | 3 Month: February 1 – April 1 |
The payment plan enrollment fee is $40 per semester. If enrolling in the 3 Month plan, 10% of the account balance for that semester will be due upon signup. You must re-enroll in the payment plan online each semester. Continuation and re-enrollment in the payment plan is dependent upon satisfactory performance of the agreed-upon payment obligations, as well as satisfactory academic progress, and may be discontinued at the sole discretion of the University at any time.
The amount due for each payment may vary if charges are added to the account by the student or the student makes changes to their course registration. An email reminder will be sent five days before the due date of your next installment payment and then also as an acknowledgment, each time a payment is made. Payments not received by midnight on the due date will be assessed a late fee of $30 or 1.25% of the balance due on that date.
The semester balance due must be paid in full by no later than November 5 for the fall semester or the April 5 for the spring semester, in order to register for the next semester or to graduate. Payments can be made by ACH bank draft or debit/credit card (MasterCard, Visa, American Express, or Discover).
Please contact the Student Accounts/Cashiers Office if you have questions about payment arrangements at 913.971.3504.
