about the program
An accounting degree is one of the most versatile degrees available—every business and non-profit organization needs accountants or accounting support. As an accountant, you primarily offer two qualities to those who hire you—your competence and your integrity. At MNU, you’ll gain a new understanding of these important professional qualities and learn how to apply them in a variety of business settings.
YOU WILL LEARN

Accounting students study:

  • financial accounting
  • auditing
  • tax accounting
  • cost accounting

Graduates often pursue the certified public accountant (CPA) designation or a graduate degree upon graduation.

Our accounting students regularly score above the mean on a standardized national business exam and have success when undertaking the CPA exam.

Accounting majors are in demand for internships with CPA firms in our area.  You can spend one or more semesters gaining valuable practical experience in this way.  You can even earn college credit for the work you put into your internship.

LYNNE ERICKSON
"An accounting degree represents a level of challenge and competence that is valued by employers. It can open doors in virtually any industry, in large or small companies, and even in non-profit organizations. The accounting major prepares students for a career in one of the many branches of accounting—auditing, tax, corporate—or provides a solid foundation for a career in business."
